Rumors of a Pirates of the Caribbean 4k UHD Blu-ray set due in 2022
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales has already been released on 4K disc, but this will be the first physical release of Gore Verbinski's Original Trilogy and Rob Marshall's Spin-off on 4K UHD
Presumably will likely include the five movies on:
5 4k UHD discs
5 2k bluray discs
5 2k bluray bonus dics from the previous releases
Hopefully this set will include the previous bonus disc which include the short film Wedlocked, and multiple cut scenes from Dead Man's Chest and At World's End.
4K or 2K upscale?
The 3 Verbinski directed films were shot on film, making a 4k digital intermediate possible,
This article reveals Disney created a 4k negative for At World's End and hopefully the same is true for The Curse of the Black Pearl and Dead Man's Chest; and Disney goes the extra mile for these films.
On Stranger Tides and Dead Men Tell No Tales were shot on digital and finished at 2K intermediates so will most likely be upscales
